Its not about $15 an hour its about paying a wage that meets the cost of living in the area of the country. There are places in the Northeast and West Coast that cost more than some places in mid America.. Dietra Byrd yes, liberal population centers with obscene tax rates.. Dietra Byrd surely, workers have no responsibilities?. Tom Kelly Can you explain, please?. John Charpie coming to the workforce with minimum skills, minimum education, minimum experience? 1,200,000 kids drop out of high school annually. Only 1,700,000 actually earn the federal minimum wage.. Dietra Byrd so by that logic you deserve more for making a bad choice…..and living in one of this places, that are generally epicenters for all things bad. No that wont fly. Zach Wicced Sorry that you have such a negative opinion. Not everyone is born with endless choices. Yes, some people are able to escape circumstances but not all. Perhaps a bit more humanity on the rest of society could be a generous way of accepting their fellow man. I doubt anyone living in the midwest decided to throw caution to the wind and move to San Francisco where real estate is an unattainable goal for many. I could go on, but I doubt it would have an impact. you are certainly free to have your opinions. As am I Daddy’s blanket for the times when you’re cold blanket

Dietra Byrd life is competitive, it began at conception. I fled California in 1976.. Working at McDonalds will never equal a wage that meets the cost of living. If you force businesses to pay more, prices will increase thus negating any gain you think you got. Denmark McDonalds pay 20/hr…but their prices are 50% higher than in the US. Cost of living in Denmark is on average, 23% higher than in the US.. Dietra Byrd I started at McDonald’s at $1.25 per hour when I was in high school. It was a stepping stone to a better job. That was in 1973.. Seeana Rose And I worked at a local restaurant for 1.35. A dollar in 1970 would be the equivalent of $6.50 today. I struggled to make a decent living then but was able to go to night school and get a better paying job. Not that women are getting better pay today either.
